Something interesting is happening on the city streets in Germany…
Giveboxes are small structures, some as small as a phone booth up to an average garden shed size.
They hold community donated items free for the taking. I have seen books, blankets, lamps and cups and saucers.
This all came about from an idea by an anonymous Berliner known only as Andy or Andreas.
You can hear a really interesting interview with Andy, the founder on the Go to slow travel website.
Take some time to listen to him. I really enjoyed it. A fascinating story.
The very first Givebox was in Berlin last summer and others have popped up in Hamburg, Vienna, Paris, Copenhagen, Pennsylvania and San Francisco. Anyone can fill the space with unwanted items and anyone interested in those items can take them.
